Interesting Trivia

This is technically Joan and Clark Gable's first film together. They were both uncredited extras.

The film was remade three times after Joan's (uncredited) 1925 version - The Merry Widow (1934) with Jeanette MacDonald and Maurice Chevalier, The Merry Widow (1952) with Lana Turner and Fernando Lamas and the German version, Die Lustige Witwe (1962). The film (Joan's version) had a production cost of $592,000 but did quite nicely at the box office, earning an impressive $758,000 in profit.

Inflation worth in 2007: $8,857,971.43 profit!
